Windows of Opportunity offers superior educational opportunities for grades 3rd - 12th and college students on Maui. As academic coaches, we have partnered with a variety of high quality, affordable, elementary, middle, high schools and colleges presenting parents and guardians with a wide range of academic choices, in finding the perfect match of tutoring, home schooling and/or online programs for students.

Tutoring Services
WOO tutors are available for after school tutoring, and homework monitoring, from Mon - Fri. While we believe the best tutoring results come from a minimum of 2 hour periods, twice a week, Windows of Opportunity can work with parents to find the ideal tutoring schedule to meet their family’s needs. Using academic assessments and a short academic conference with parents, scholastic deficits can be identified and, subsequently, appropriate tutoring duration and direction can be recommended.
Our academic coaches monitor homework completion by checking assignment planners and, if necessary, through interaction with the student’s teacher. Arrangements with the parents are made in advance with regard to the types of academic activities in which the student will engage after homework is completed. These activities can range from simple reading or the use of electronic learning devices to music or typing programs on the computer or even computer lab time. Windows of Opportunity can help the parent establish the perfect educational plan for each individual student. We also provided a detailed tutoring progress reports to parents each month.
Home Schooling Support
Windows of Opportunity helps parents and guardians implement a home schooling program. Home schooling, initially, is a 3 step process. First, the notification of intent to home school must be submitted to the student’s current school and the Maui District Superintendent. We do this for you!
Next, parents must choose an online school through which to access the academic curriculum. WOO has partnered with a variety of high quality, yet affordable, online elementary, middle and high schools - presenting parents and guardians with a wide range of academic choices, in finding the perfect match of online program to student. Through our partnership (with such esteemed institutions as Brigham Young University), WOO is able to secure discounted rates unavailable to individual families – for as low as $40 per month, for a fully accredited, nationally recognized school.
Finally, parents must decide how much home schooling they can provide for their children. Again, Windows of Opportunity can help. Our academic coaches are available Monday-Friday. With the generally accepted time frame for home schooling at 5 hours a day/5 days a week, WOO staff is ready to meet any or all of a family’s home schooling needs, full-time to part-time.
In providing home school support, Windows of Opportunity is the conduit between the online program and the student. Our 1:5 coach- to-student ratio means the student shares an academic coach with no more than 4 other students. The result is greater individual attention, an accommodation to individual learning styles, and a thorough exploration of class material – with an academic approach specifically geared towards the learner.
Windows of Opportunity makes home schooling a reality. Whether full-time or part-time academic coaching is needed, our certified teachers and college instructors are dedicated to your student’s academic success. With a 1:4 coach-to-student ratio, WOO students get the academic support they need to complete their studies at a typical or an accelerated rate. All WOO Staff members have undergone extensive background and criminal history checks.
Computer Lab Services
Offered Monday-Friday, Windows of Opportunity opens its computer lab for students who need general computer education, typing or word processing skill improvement, or an introduction to Microsoft Office products. Our computer lab is also available to accommodate those students conducting internet research for class assignments or who simply want to surf the net. Windows of Opportunity has parental blocks in place to prevent the viewing of inappropriate internet material. Special arrangements, with parents, can be made if a lifting of the parental blocks is deemed necessary.
Complete Grade Level and Academic Assessments
At the parents' request, Windows of Opportunity can conduct a comprehensive grade level report and academic assessment for your learner at any time. These reports allow us to work with you to develop a comprehensive and successful strategy of learning. You can order reading and math assessments here.
